50 Stockholm families test mobile TV service

Nordic telco TeliaSonera is currently running a pilot of its mobile TV service using 50 families living in Hammarby Sjöstad, a neighbourhood in Stokholm.

The trial participants have been equipped with a mobile TV device and have access to fourteen TV channels, including SVT1, SVT2, TV4, Kanal 5, Canal+ Sport, Discovery, Disney channel and Aftonbladet TV.

The trial uses DVB-H (digital video broadcast – handheld) technology, which is based on the same principles as terrestrial digital TV and can be accessed by an unlimited number of users simultaneously. The telco anticipates that the test users will provide valuable information and feedback in preparation for a future launch of the service.
