Fox Primetime Hits MySpace
Network will keep hit shows in play during baseball season by streaming them on social network, affiliate websites.
Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. made another step toward integrating the company’s diverse media properties on Tuesday with the announcement that Fox Broadcasting will stream the network’s hit primetime shows on Fox Interactive Media’s crown jewel, MySpace, as well as on the websites of local affiliate stations.
The new service, called Fox on Demand, gives fans the chance to catch previously-aired episodes of primetime series Bones, Prison Break, Standoff, Vanished, Talk Show With Spike Feresten, ‘Til Death, The Loop, and Justice on Fox’s Full Throttle broadband media player via the News Corp-owned social network, and local affiliates.
Those who tune in to the broadband player will be able to see full episodes including advertisements from Burger King, Toyota, and Lions Gate films. And for rabid TV fans, the player offers access to primetime shows that will be pre-empted by Fox’s presentation of the Major League Baseball play-offs, and the World Series. Fox plans to promote the new service during baseball broadcasts.
