Swisscom offers central address book for mobiles, email

Swisscom customers can now store their contacts information in a central database that is accessible by mobile phone or computer.

Swiss telco Swisscom has added a synchronisation function in Bluewin Webmail, which synchronises the address archive with Outlook or a mobile phone. With most devices, the synchronisation is performed using the SyncML feature and costs CHF 0.50 per update regardless of the volume of data being transferred. Transfer to Outlook is free of charge.

The advantage to having a central database is that if a customer's mobile device is stolen or lost, the customer's address book is safe.
